After a brisk morning at Missy's soccer game, we went home and chilled around the house for awhile before doing a little cleaning. Then we got a call inviting us to an Autumn harvest party at the home of a preacher who attended our church many years ago, and also a friend of hubby's family. I threw together a fruit salad to take along and made some sweet tea. It was very laid back, very nice. We got there, parked in the bean field and immediately there was that 'country air' smell..lol. I love that smell. The girls got excited as we walked across the road and they could see the pony rides. I didn't see them again for a good half hour! There were ham and beans cooking in a copper kettle over open flame, corn bread, and 2 long tables of desserts. Talk about sugar. The ham n beans were awesome, the company even better. After stuffing ourselves, we took the kids on a hayride back through the fields and into a woods just as it was getting dark. The sunset was beautiful as be began the hayride, and at the end there was just the tiniest sliver of color on the horizon, the cresent moon was overhead and the stars were begining to shine. We got off the wagon and back up to the house as everything was being cleaned up.
It was a nice evening of food, conversation, and a relaxing hayride. What a great way to welcome fall... :)
